Recently stumbled upon feminist writer and evocateur Camille Paglia, and she had some interesting idea about civilization that might be of relevance;

She also says that the civilization is mans dream of liberating himself from female dominance. Coming from mans fear of women and the mystery of life. And she has some interesting things to say about monks, nuns and prostitutes, that they are similar in certain ways.
