The Leaver Premise

Hey.

I'm looking for specifics that I can't recall.

The Leaver story, according to Quinn, is, "There is no one right way to live."

The Taker story is, "The Earth was made for man to conquer and rule and under man's rule it is to become a paradise; unfortunately, man was born flawed."

Now Quinn says that every story has a premise. If I recall correctly, the Taker premise is, "the world belongs to us." Can I get confirmation on that?

What I can't recall with any accuracy is what the Leaver premise is. Is it, "we belong to the world," or is it something else?

I think that the exact answer can be found in Ishmael, but I don't currently have a copy. Damn you lending and gifting Laughing out loud If someone could even post a direct quote with a page number that would rock as well as roll.

Sacred Process

Matt,

For me, this quote usually comes to mind:

"The world is a sacred place and a sacred process, and we're part of it." The Story of B, Pg 189.

Take care,

Curt

Still looking?

Hey Matt,

Still looking for this?

In any case, you've got it:

"...The premise of the Taker story is the world belongs to man." I thought for a couple of minute, then I laughed. "It's almost too neat. The premise of the Leaver story is man belongs to the world." Ishmael pg.239

And maybe:

"The Takers' story is, 'The gods made the world for man, but they botched the job, so we had to take matters into our own, more competent hands.' The Leavers' story is, 'The gods made man for the world, the same way they made salmon and sparrows and rabbits for the world; this seems to have worked pretty well so far, so we can take it easy and leave the running of the world to the gods.'"

"That's right. There are other ways to tell it, just as there are other ways to tell the story of the Takers, but this way of telling it is as good as any." Ishmael pg. 241

rock on!
