Foraging

Forage SF
Submitted by Tony on Tue, 2009-11-17 20:08. Foraging | ideas | San FranciscoForageSF connects Bay Area dwellers with the wild food that is all around them. Through a monthly box of all wild foraged foods, which we call a CSF, we deliver fresh, sustainably harvest wild food to city dwellers. From wild mushrooms to acorn flour, there is a wealth of edible forage just outside our doors that few people know about, and still fewer ever consume.

The Truth about Columbus Day
Submitted by Tony on Sun, 2009-10-11 00:26. 1491 | Columbus | Foraging | Life Skills | Saving the World | The InternetThe "true story about Columbus Day" is that it is the part of our mythological pantheon that allows us to believe that America is something to be 'discovered'. Like success in capitalism, it is part of the American story because it perpetuates the belief that life is discovered, not inherent in you being born. If we told the story that America had always been here, we might get interested in what happened in pre-columbian history. A dangerous time of people living their god-given life, not having their right to life chartered through the church or corporation or other organizational entrapments.

New Start
Submitted by new.orangutang on Sat, 2007-05-12 17:21. Beginings | Foraging | Gardening | Spring | Alberta | Calgary | CanadaSpring is the time of new beginings, fresh starts, everything seesm to come alive again in spring, eveything is green, and it is perfect time to start thinking about plant. Yesterday I got a few wild edibles books fromt he library and went looking on the hill behind my house for some edibles, I didn't find anything, but this is a new start. For so long, my support of foraging and producing your own food has been purely theoretical and almost hypocritical, but know I can finally start to explore what is out there.

I didn't with the cold snap we'd ever find anything. Well, thanks to a few days of warm soil tempuratures, the first land fish have come ashore. Good eating tomorrow morning, with eggs from the farm, morels, and ramps (wild leeks) altogether in an omlette.

Going 'live'? (the state of the site)
Submitted by Tony on Fri, 2007-01-26 13:15. Foraging | Think about IshthinkI was wondering what people thought about what we would need to have in place in order to 'go live' with IshThink, and where we're at with those things.
William and Gerald from what I can tell have shouldered this enormous responsibility and I want to give them a big shout out for that.
I would like to promote the site elsewhere, and I wanted community opinion on to when that would be a good idea.Â
I know we still have an offer on the table for a logo, what about themes as well? I find myself more or less walled in by the redundant sidebars, with two versions of recent comments, two differentiated lists of topics, and a while crapload of options.
