Submitted by Adam Hintz on Fri, 2007-09-14 19:56. Indigenous Cultures | Lincoln | NEOn September 9th my daughers and I went to a Pow Wow held in Lincoln. Unfortunatly, we weren't able to attend until the very end. When we arrived, an elder was acknowleging all of the people who participated in the event. Iris, being as social as she is, immediatly made friends with a boy her age and they ran around playing tag and such running in and out to tipis.

With Seasons come transitions
Submitted by AnneMarie on Sun, 2007-09-02 04:09. grid | mother nature | Lincoln | NELong time and glad to see everyone.
I live in Nebraska and we have great seasons and with each one something happens to your insides. Right now fall is coming though it is still August. I feel as though this transition is going to be a big one. No longer can hear mother nature weep to me. My husband has been on me to get our house off grid for awhile now. It is time. Each day it clicks away at me. I just opened a bakery and I still have my job that makes our house payment(so barely home and I have two kids). I recently watched "what a way to go" and I think the author had the same problem as I. How do you jump off grid, try to change the world with one foot in civilization and one out? My husband has been talking about not being American anymore as though it was that easy. Sure, lets not pay taxes and give what we would to the government to buy land that is wet land or support conservation efforts. But we still own businesss' do we do the same there? I worry a lot about our being out about our hate for the war, for the US, and how civilizaton has become so bloated and ready to pop. Could we be jailed? Targeted? I am sure there is nothing to worry about, but it is always in the back of my mind.

Cradle to Cradle | Meadowlark | Sustainabiliy | Tribal Business | Lincoln | NE | NebraskaSo I thought it would be cool to show you some of the things we do at Meadowlark to be more sustainable. One of the major things we do is try to keep things out of the land fill. One of the ways we accomplish this is by donating our grounds to the city parks and recreation compost pile and the community gardens compost pile.

If you'd like, you can give me some questions for my co-workers and I'll interview them for you. Like real anthropologists! Today I just asked them what their favorite part of the day was and what their least favorite part.
